Market View 31 December 2012 (Last Trading day of 2012)

Finally, we are at the last trading day of the year
and we will welcome year 2013 at midnight. It has
been an pretty eventful years both within the
the market and outside of it. At this time, we can
look and plan forward to a great trading 2013 with
fruitful and fantastic result to show. I wish all the
readers all the supports and Happy New Year.
I will continue to  serve and provide the Market
View for as long as I can possibly write.

Regarding the Mentor Group, I will send an seperate
email to inform of the requirement to gain entrance
to a new blog setup.
Also, I will do a 2013 market view and it will be
publish tomorrow, so keep a look-up for it.

I sent an email on the Value Investing Summit's
early bird discount will be close today on Saturday,
For the benefit of those readers who are not in my
mailing list but read the blog regularly, I will re-post
the email today.

"I am writing to you today to let you know that the early bird
price for Value Investing Summit is ending 31 Dec 2012 and
you have the last 2 days to get the ticket at a discounted price and
attend the much-anticipated event on the 26 and 27 January next
year. The 2 days Summit ticket will be $149 till the end of the
month and year, that means $74.50 for each day. But if you
get the second ticket for your wife/husband or friend/colleague,
it will be at a huge discount of $79. That is to say that the total
cost for 2 tickets will be $149 + 79 = $228, which means that
$114 per person and $57 per person per day! The lunch and dinner
buffet at some posh hotel will cost much more than that. Is this a steal
or what?

Ticket price aside, what do you get for the money that you invest
in and the amount of precious time spent for the 2-day 9am-7pm
event? "Price is what you pay, but value is what you get", so said
Warren Buffet, and that is exactly what you are going to get,
priceless and valuable knowledge and experience talk on Value
Investing from the heavy-weight speakers like Mr Kevin Scully
from NRA Capital, Mr Song Seng Wun from CIMB Research,
Mr Sebastian Chong from Financial Info Analysis, Mr Mohamed
Ismail Gafoor, and we have a "Fool" in this event  too, and that is
Mr David Kuo, a director with Motley Fool, UK. The 2-day event
is organise by 8 Investment, the company behind the successful
Value Investing book series like Value Investing in Growth Companies,
Value Investing in Reits, Value Investing for Employees, and of
course, Value Investing for Women, written from a woman’s perspective
on value investing in the stock market.

Now that we are on the topic of Value Investing for women,
I have to say that sadly, many women do not care much about
their own financial freedom or security and choose to leave it
to their husband or even boyfriend to decide. Well, this is not
entirely wrong as they believe that investing is risky and they
can lose all the money in the stock market. The last statement
is not wrong but if you choose to hide under the blanket rather
than learn more about the stock market and investing, then that
is not really the best and right move after all. Of course, I also
heard of many women lie awake at night or have sleepless night
worrying about the family financial future while the other-half
is snoring and sleeping soundly beside, totally oblivious to any
finance issue at all. Seriously, this got to change, and what a good
chance and time to attend the Value Investing Summit to learn more
about using money to make more money and more....
If you don't care about your family and your finance, nobody will.

Here's what you're going to discover at this exclusive 2-day summit:
  • The economic outlook in Singapore and the region for the coming year ahead
  • How the US & Europe economies will affect your investing decisions in 2013
  • Undervalued stocks you can look at that have great potential to beat the market in the coming year
  • How to invest in the right REITs and sit on 6%-8% income yields
  • The Singapore property outlook and strategies to profit from the property market in 2013
  • and much more!
Early bird discounts are still available, BUT they end 31 Dec 2012.
After that, the price goes up! So grab them cheap while you still can.

Remember, this event only happens once a year.

Miss this round and you'll have to wait till 2014 for your chance to know
what to invest profitably in. AND you'll miss out on all the great investing opportunities waiting for you in the coming year. Why do that? Join me in January and start making a profit now.

There's no reason to procrastinate or deliberate any longer. The time for
action is now, because if you wait there's a very good chance that this
event WILL sell out (and it will - like last year).

So don't wait...
Life is NOT about regrets... it's about seizing the right moment...
and your moment... is now.

Market View 28 December 2012

I took a break yesterday so I never wrote the
Market View in the morning as I was out very early.
Anyway, there isn't much market action last
couple of days and I am still having a "hangover"
from the festive season.

ST reported today that Jim Rogers is taking up
his Olam share's right offer which is quite "small"
to him. I wonder how "small" is his stake in Olam.
But too bad, yesterday was the last day that the
investor can buy and pay-up to be able to entitled
with the rights to subscribe to the bonds and warrants.
If you buy today, you won't get the rights although
the share price should technically be lower.

I have not really close my book yet but I guess I will
be more of a spectator in this last 1.5 trading days
of the year unless I see some value plays in the market.
Most likely, I will still be present for the Market View
next Monday, 31 December 2012.

Market View 26 December 2012 (Boxing Day)

It's Boxing Day today but I guess many would
have been "knock-out" cold with all the feasting
and the drinks over the last 2 days of celebration.
I nearly can't wake up on time today as I have
just a few drops too much yesterday night but
my alarm is too noisy and persistent. Too bad...

Anyway, I received many emails from the readers
for the Mentor Group and I would like to thank
all those who applied and for the faith and trust
that you have given me. I can say that we have
a wonderful pool of readers coming from different
background but having the same goal of making
money from Mr Market, and that is wonderful.
I will go through the emails one by one and
hopefully I will make up my decision on how many
to take in. Watch out for the welcome email soon...

Market View 24 December 2012

This will be a very short blog post as I have
nothing particular worth mentioning today.
My view for STX OSV's cash offer was published
last Friday and the readers can refer to it.
I just want to wish all the readers a very fantastic
Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
It had been a bumpy ride for some readers this
year in the stock market, but it can only gets
better next year, and like what Mr Obama said,"
The Best is yet to come!"

Lastly, for those still interested to join my Mentor
Group, the deadline is Christmas day, so I won't
consider any emails after that. Refer to:

My View on the STX OSV Cash Offer

Ok, if you have read the SGX annoucements, you will
know that Fincantieri has signed an agreement with
STX Group for 50.75% of STX OSV at $1.22 and it
is also launching a Pre-Conditional Mandatory Cash
Offer at the same price for all other shares not already
owned, that means the remaining 49.25% of shares.

This is really an outrageous and brazen offer and I
urge all other shareholders and the readers of this
blog who are also shareholder to ignore the offer and
toss the hardcopy of the offer when it arrive at your house.
It is a well-known fact that STX Group, the parent company
of STX OSV need money to pay off its debt, and have
been desperately trying to sell off the cash cow STX OSV
for over a years. I guess it has missed the golden period
to sell STX OSV at a better and more justified price last
year and is now force to wall and have to sell its priced
possession for a ridiculous low price of $1.22. It could have
been about 40-50% more if the timing is right.

I have told many readers who was bombarding me with
questions since the opening bell on STX OSV. My sincere
view is that the fundamental of STX OSV did not change in
this transaction. It is just a change of ownership from a beggar
to an opportunist. In fact, by acquiring STX OSV shares, it is
如虎添翼 to Fincantieri as it adds OSV building capability to
its already powerful ship construction business.

By getting the 50.75% stake of STX OSV, Fincantieri is under
SGX requirement to launch a Cash offer for the remaining
shares it did not owned, so it got no choice but to launch one.
A half-hearted one, I must add, as not many investors in his
sane mind will consider selling at such a lowly offer price.
You see, "The total value of the transaction, including both
the acquisition of the 50.75% stake and the mandatory cash
offer, will amount to approximately Euro 900 million (approximately
SGD 1,450 million). It will be financed mainly from Fincantieri's
internal resources and with a syndicate loan provided by a pool of
banks (Banca IMI, BNP Paribas - Italian branch, Carige, Unicredit)
and by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti as a lender guaranteed
by SACE." I believe that it won't have the support of other
major shareholder in STX OSV and I for one will defintely
reject the cash offer and continue to hold the stock until
it reach its rightful and justified price.

Market View 21 December 2012

What a wonderfullll....world...!
So I am back to writing the Market View today
and that means that world never end while I
was sleeping. Haha..
In this case, when will be the next doomsday?
Then I can prepared for it by laughing at the long
queue and maybe people stocking up again.
I will leave that to another day...

Today ST reported another wonderful news, well,
not exactly to all, but only to those who is into
the stock market. It says that the average daily
value of shares and stock trading volume went down
like about 14% from the same period last year.
Other major players like Hong Kong, Australia and
even the New York Stock Exchange also have the
same fate. This is a pretty good news to me as many
retail investors are still out watching the action-packed
market action from the sideline. Maybe they are still
licking their wounds suffered back in 2008 and 2009.
But don't worry, they will be back, and when they
are back, guess what? Mr Market likes to inflict the
worse injuries to the late-comer and history will repeat
itself. It is when ST reports that the trading volume is
up 20% and the daily traded stock value is also irrationally
high and the brokers and remisiers are bringing home
tons of commission income that you should start to worry.
When your usual fish-monger, fruit-seller and
fish-ball noodle hawker tell you what stock to buy,
run as fast back home and clear off most of your stocks.
Right at the moment, the coast is clear and the sky is blue.
What a wonderfulll... world......

Market View 20 December 2012

Oh No!!! The world will end today!!!
There will be no more stock market tomorrow!!
What am I going to do??
Haha, if there is no more stock market tomorrow,
then we all will not exist too.
I read with amuse on the report in ST that there
are actually gullible people in Singapore who believe in
the doomday BS and stock up foods, battery and
other essentials. No wonder, I saw long snaking queues
in Fairprice and Cold Storage. I thought it is the
last minute Christmas shopping, now I know maybe
most of them are stocking for the end of the world.
Might as well have a "Last day on Earth" super sales.
It's Ok, I believe I will still around to write the Market
View TOMORROW!
Nothing else to write, as I have already said my
pieces on the blog for days.
Just spend the day and night with your love ones.
See you tomorrow again....

Market View 19 December 2012

Wall Street rallied again in overnight trade and
the major indices were around 1% with Nasdaq
adding 1.5% Look like we are going to have
another field day today.

Olam surged yesterday and almost immediately
I received Skypes messages and emails asking
me whether it is a buy. Very strangely, I have been
telling readers to buy when it was still relatively
on sales and at a low price, but it is only when the
price is more "expensive" then people will notice
it and wanted to buy. It was a good rebound after
the rights issue date and details are revealed and
this time it really need to stay above the 1.45-46 level
before it XD next Friday. If you don't mind the higher
price right now and want to get the rights issue of
bonds and warrants, and also intend to hold the stock
with a mid-term view, then the price is still OK to get.

The market strength lately have been wonderful with
so many rotational interests in various stocks. We have
the usual winners in Yanlord, OSV, the 2 Es, Olam
and Noble, even Genting after it surged past the
1.27-1.28 resistance. In contrast with the common
belief that December should be a rather quiet trading
months as the traders are out for holiday and have
already closed their book. Look like the attraction of
more $$$$ is the main seduction and contributing factor.
I have always state that infront of $$$$ and even the
doomday tomorrow, it will be  舞照跳, 马照跑, 股市继续升.

Market View 18 December 2012

Finally, the market decided to take a break yesterday
and most stocks ended the day in the negative zone.
At the other end of the world, Wall Street rallied and
all 3 major indices closed up about 1%. Looking at the
pre-opening figures, we can expect a much firmer
opening.

I don't know whether the readers have noticed that Olam
is currently trading CR, cum rights, right now. The last
day of CR will end on 27th December, that is next Thursday.
Olam will trade XR on 28th. If you wish to be entitled to
the rights, you need to buy the stock the latest on 27th
December and paid-out before the XR ended.

We are exactly one week away from the Christmas which
is also the closing date for the Mentor Group application.

Market View 17 December 2012

We are less than 2 weeks away from the end
of year 2012, and some doomday naysayers even
believe that we are only 4 days away from the end
of the world. Frankly, in my view, they are psychological
imbalance and really need to go for some treatment.
Like what I mentioned at the beginning of the year,
which really feel like yesterday, I will still be enjoying
the Christmas atmosphere and the foods and goodies
next week. Those doomday rumour-monger can continue
to look at the sky and ask when will the "next" doomday come.

It seems like the market train is still running full-steam
ahead and nothing can stop its momentum at the moment
or is it really the case? I have turned slightly cautious currently,
although I don't expect major event or selling to derail
the market strength right now. It has been a pretty good
ride lately and any profit-taking should be short and swift.
I expect the year to start-off with a bang but before that
there might be a quiet period as the holiday season sets in.
Just have a trailing stop in hand and you should be Ok.

Some readers asked me whether I will be meeting up
with them or even the Mentor Group members in the
Value Investing Summit 2013 that I am attending.
No, I will not be meeting up with anyone during the event
as I will just sit somewhere with my wife anonymously
and focusing on what is delivered on stage. Oh ya, since

Market View 14 December 2012

The weather today is so cooling and soothing
that I nearly can't lift myself out the bed. I guess
that is the benefit of not working for someone but
only to answer to yourself. Nevertheless, I have some
open positions in the market so I have to have the
self-discipline to be up and monitor over them.

Some of you may have notice the banner of Value
Investing Summit 2013 on top and at side of the
blog. It is an event on "What to Invest in 2013" with
various local and foreign speakers from different
companies and background. I am glad that a "Fool"
will be speaking at the event, that is Mr David Kuo
from The Motley Fool. If you don't know about The
Motley Fool, then you better google them.

The Summit will be held on January 26th and 27th
at Kallang Theatre Auditorium. There is an Early
Bird Discount price of $149 right now till 31st December.
That is like $74.50 per day. If you get a 2nd ticket,
it will cost you $79, meaning for 2 tickets, the total
price is $149 + $79 = $228. That means $114 per person,
and $57 per day per person, is this a steal of what?
Some buffet out there cost more $57 already.
Actually, it is not all about the cost, but I believe that
we will benefit from the insight and views of the
speakers. I am a firm believer of life-time learning,
so my wife and I will be going for the event too

As per what I said in yesterday blog, be prepared for
any profit-taking very soon. When I saw the headline
in ST Business section that the index is trading at a
16-month high, I just (dis)like such news as the
imminent will happen.

Market View 13 December 2012

Seriously, there isn't much for me to add on today
only to say that the STI had been up for the last 6
days, and it maybe ripe to take a break very soon.
The selected small and mid-caps have also done
decently well last couple of days and will be subjected
to profit-taking if the broad market condition turns
cautious and negative. I told many readers on Skype
that I am still quite confident that we should see a
strong closing at year-end, and I maintain to hold
this view. By the way, I will be publishing my own
market view on the stock market in 2013 around
the last few days of the month or even on the
New year day itself. It is a yearly market view which
I will also share those stocks that I believe will be
performing well in the year. Do look out for it.

Last thing before I forgot, if you are interested to join

Market View 12 December 2012

I don't know whether you will be busy today, but
I will be. Today is an "auspicious" day to get married
with the date being 12-12-2012. I have a ROM lunch
and a wedding dinner tonight, exactly 2 red bombs in
a day. If you are in the same situation, Skype me to
chit chat about it.

Last week, I mentioned that I am looking at a few stocks
and that included Courts Asia, as I observed some
signs in its chart. It moved up slowly and suddenly
burst up yesterday. Yes, you can say that is because
UOB KH initial coverage with a 1.19 target price.
But if you look at the chart, the indication is already there.
It will likely meet the psychological resistance of 90cts
head-on, and it need to have strong supporting volume
to back it up for a charge over the mountain.

The other stocks that I stated are all doing pretty decent
and if you have a ready cut-loss level present, then you
will do fine to just see the stocks going higher.

Market View 11 December 2012

STI is now trading at a 16-month high so
the mid-cap and pennies should be doing
very well also right? This is the question
that some readers were asking me yesterday
and last week. Sad to say that, most mid-cap
are still far from their glory days and some is
even far worse off than before. There are
contradicting reports on whether the blues
will continue to move higher as the year is coming
to an end. My personal view is that, although
there may be some bumps along the way, we
should still have a fantastic year-end closing,
baring any unforeseen black swan event.

By the way, do anyone know where I can see
a field or just a patch of dentdelion, better known
as 蒲公英 in Singapore? I remembered that I
used to see big patch when I was still a young boy.
I wish to enjoy blowing its flower into the wind again.
Please email or Skype me on where I can find it now?
Thanks in advance.

Market View 10 December 2012

I have to say that last week was quite a good trading
week as so many stocks were being rotated and well
traded around and the limelight keep changing focus.
Even STX OSV decided to join the fun as it surge high
last Friday with a healthy volume. Some readers joked
that I am like the spokesperson of the company and
always recommend the stock when it was temporary
being sold down. Well, I have to say that it is a very
good stock and if you missed the great sales recently,
then you may have squander an opportunity. As long as
the stock is above 1.43 mark and with volume flowing
in, it should continue its march toward the 1.5x level again.

Next, we come to Olam. Many readers keep asking about
the stock and want to know whether they should jump in.
Well, I can only say that you can still catch the fish in
muddy waters if you can stand the uncertainties and
the cloudy situation right now. I believe the caught fish
will be a fat and juicy one after I pull up it from the water.

Market View 7 December 2012

I just noticed that this will be my 900th blog post
and I am 100 posts away from the elusive but
imminent 1000th post mark. It should happen in
the next couple of months though. For the time
being, I just have to continue to provide good
quality daily write-up.

It seems that this days you can't help but see Olam
in the limelight for the unglamorous reason. After the
rights issue is out, the stock suffered heavier selling
and rest at the support level of 1.45-1.46 level as stated
in the blog yesterday. Some readers asked for my
view on the recent plunge. I have to say that it is more
of a confidence and belief issue on the company rather
than the financial status or the rights issue now.
I believe that the funds are shedding their interests in
the company but at the same time, there are longer
term investors and funds picking up the broken pieces.
It is the usual tug-of-war between the supply and demand
side of the market forces, and currently the bears are
winning the battle. Do take note that the war is not over yet.

On my side, I bought Olam when it was in the 1.4x level
and when I saw that the selling is getting stronger, I started
to pare my holdings and contra to preserve profits.
Take note that you should NEVER NEVER NEVER let
a winning stock become a loser. It will demoralise you with
a devastating effect and you will likely feel it for a long time.
I am still mid-term bullish on the stock and I will start buying
again at the current 1.4x level.

By the way, I have to say that the emails I received for
the Mentor Group is very encouraging. Keep the emails
coming in....

Market View 6 December 2012

Over the last 2 days, I received close to 20 emails
from readers wanting to get into Mentor Group.
Thank you for all the interests and all will be considered
regardless of the answered that you provided.
Frankly, I have to say that I am pretty impressed by
the quality of the answers and also "shocked" at
some of the out-of-this-world solutions especially
toward the bonus question. It is obvious that we have
readers who are willing and eager to learn and to
further improve their financial knowledge and apply
it to the stock market. I like such active attitude and
you can succeed at anything you are doing right now
or venture at a later stage. Keep the emails coming...
Oh ya, please send the email to:
stocklobangmentorgroup@yahoo.com
I received a few emails to my other email account but
don't worry, you will still be considered.

Ok, we come to the main market focus, Olam now.
I received several questions from the readers about
my view on the stock. I have to say that I am still
pretty bullish and confident on the stock with a
mid-long term view. I consider the stock going through
a rough patch now but I believe that it got the ability
and quality to stand up again and deliver succulent
rewards to those who dare to pick up the battered stock.
Going by the selling momentum, should the support level
of 1.50 failed to hold its ground, we are looking at the
next level of support at the 1.45-1.46 region.

Stock Lobang Mentor Group

Hi All,
I will be starting a Mentor Group from next year
January 1st onward. It is going to be a closed-door
member-only group but it is going to be a FOC one.
No monthly or yearly membership fee of any sort,
the only investment is going to be your own financial
knowledge learning and of course your time and
commitment to interact with Mr Market.

The reason why I decided to have a Mentor group
is because of readers' request that I provide a more
timely and precise technical and fundamental analysis
of the stocks. They want to know the exact entry and
exit price that I will trade and the rationale behind the
trade. I will seek to reveal more of my trading methods,
technique and secrets in the group so that the members
can benefit and gain from my experience and knowledge.
For the other readers not inside the group, I will still continue
to provide market view at this blog without fail, but it will be
more general. The information provided here should be
sufficient  for the readers to make informed financial decision.
But if you are more into stock trading, making money on
contra or intra, then you may want to consider joining the group.
It is FOC anyway, just that there is an entry selection "test".

A few readers asked me to set-up a monthly or yearly
payment site and restrict the members in it. I ponder
about this option for a while and decided not to do
anything of such scale. Once I have members paying
me to ask for my view, I will be very obligated and tied
to my seat and screen for the rest of the day, weeks,
months and year. I want to still have the time and freedom
to take a break whenever I want, to go to some exotic
and mystery countries with magnificent and incredible
nature, mountain and the scenery.

Of course, some readers may feel that I am not qualify
or don't have the credential to be their Mentor and that
is perfectly alright with me. I am seeking personnel that
I can work with and not someone who keep on asking me
questions and all the while telling me "I Should Have".

Ok, we come to the selection of the readers into the group.
It is not going to be on first-come-first-serve basis but I
am going to see how much you know about Mr Market
right now. I am still not sure how many I am going to take
into the group but the number should not be big as I need
to concentrate and provide the best to the members.

Here are the questions that you should answer and I will
see how is the responds. Send your answers to
stocklobangmentorgroup@yahoo.com by Christmas,
and I will use one week time to go through the answer and
decide how many I can take into the group.

Please answer and send in this format:
Name:
Age: (For the ladies, I am not really interested to know the
age, but I can do more to help if I know this data)
Occupation:
Salary: (You can choose not to disclose this sensitive data,
or you can give me a scale like <5000>5000 or 3000anything that you like.)

1. How many years have you been investing/trading in the stock market?
2. Describe Mr Market in one sentence.
3. What is your personal view on the stock market in 2013?
4. How much do you expect yourself to make from the stock market in 2013?
5. Why should you be in the Mentor Group?
6. By joining the Mentor Group, what do you intend to gain or benefit from it?
7. What is your BEST investing/trading record and what did you learn from it?
8. What is your WORST investing/trading record and what did you learn from it?
9. Do you believe in LUCK? Why?
10. To you, how can someone get rich from the stock market?
Bonus question: How many sides does a piece of paper has? How about 3 pieces then?

Send your answers to stocklobangmentorgroup@yahoo.com by 25th December.

What a great move by Olam!
Olam unveiled a US$750 million stapled right
issue of bonds and warrants yesterday and it will
hit back at the short-sellers and help dispel doubts
about the firm. I believe the best part is that its major
shareholder, our own Temasek Holdings will subscribe
to all the bonds and warrants that Olam's other
shareholders do not take up. How's that for the
confidence call. It looks like its future is not as "Muddy"
after all. Since its recent saga broke out, I have maintain
my bullish view on the company and called for a
value buy on the stock, and those readers who took
a risk and got it at discounted price can now collect and
sit on the profits. As of writing now, the stock will gap
up at an opening match price of about 1.63   8-)

As for other stocks, it is good to see that Yoma had
attracted The Capital Group to invest in the company.
It had bought over 7% of the shares at $0.525 and
the shares is going to be like 如虎添翼.

Market View 3 December 2012

Today is the first trading day of the last month
of the year, and what a year it had been and
we are finally in the last lap of the year. I am
contemplating on a few changes and enhancement
to the blog from next year and I will make the
announcement when we are closer to year-end.

Ok, Olam announced that it will take a trading
halt for at least today, and this was what was
being written: "Olam requests a one-day trading halt,
ending prior to market commencement on Tuesday,
4 December 2012, as Olam is expecting to announce an
initiative led by the Company involving its shareholders.
Olam expects the announcement to be made before
market commencement on Tuesday, 4 December 2012."
Look like something BIG and significant is coming soon....

With regard to other stocks, I have already said my
piece last week and I maintain the same short-term
bullish view on the market. If you are into pennies,
it seems that they have spur up to life again.

Market View 30 November 2012

Olam remains to be in focus as its share surged
yesterday and closed on a high note. I know of
readers who won 2 days in a row on intra trade.
And of course, I also received comments and emails
from emails that "They Should Have". Well, that's life.
Some readers asked me whether Olam can go back
to its former glory days when it was a $2 stock.
I can only say that it is doing a technical rebound
right now and to achieve higher ground, it need to
have a clear-cut strong financial result to back it up.
The management can rebuke all the comments by
Muddy Waters but it is still words against words.
The company need to produce what was being said
into what we can see in its result announcement and
this remains to be verified and justified by the investors.
In my opinion, I believe that Olam is still a pretty
robust company and will continue to deliver values and
appreciation to its shareholders and investors.

Yesterday was quite a great trading day as the stocks
that I mentioned were all up and running, except for
a spoilsport, Yoma. Some readers I know made money
on Biosensors, STX OSV, Yanlord, Noble, the 2 Es and CMZ.
I see the momentum and strength still intact for the
moment but one still must be alert to any reversal play.

Market View 29 November 2012

Look like Olam is going to remain in the limelight
for quite some time. Yesterday, during its morning trading
halt, I told those readers who asked me about Olam
that I am going to buy the stock when the trading
halt was lifted and I will buy at the opening and within
those few crucial minutes. I told the readers that the
resistance is going to be at 1.57-1.58, and guess what
the stock's day-high was at 1.575. From what I know,
a few risk-taking readers hit the buzzer and managed
to make a handsome intra-day trade. The stock closed
at 1.50 way away from its day-high. I am still mid-term
positive on the stock and I continue to view the current
weakness as a great buying opportunity. If it suffers another
heavy selling, then what a wonderful time to pick up a
quality stock at such a battered price.

For the other stocks that I am also looking at, they
included: Biosensors, STX OSV, Yanlord, Yoma,
Noble, the 2 Es and CMZ.

On a side note, I wonder how many reader have watch
the latest Jack Neo's show, Ah Boys to Men? I watched
it last week when I was on "MC" and it was quite a funny
but enriching movie. It really make me recalled my BMT,
FT units, NSman life and period. Time passes by very fast,
and I have became MR (Military or Mindef Reserve) for a
few years, so for those curious readers, you can roughly
guess my age now. 8-)

Market View 28 November 2012

Ok, needless to say, the main market action yesterday
focused on one stock, Olam. The stock suffered a
strong selling after the report by Muddy Waters was
out and called for Strong Sell on Olam. By the way,
Olam requested for a Trading Halt this morning pending
release of announcement. I believe that Olam is going
to defend its ground vigourously and rebuke what was
in the report. I continue to view the current selling as a
wonderful opportunity to pick up the stock at a great
discount.

I wasn't available to post the Market View as
I took one more day off to enjoy the holiday
at our neighbour country. It was supposed to
be a short trip till Sunday but I extended it for
another day since everyone is enjoying the
quality time together.

Ok, back to the stocks..
Some readers emailed me over the last few
days whether there will be a year-end rally
or the so-called Santa Claus rally?
This is a million dollar question and I am not
prepared to stick out my head this time. All that
I can say is that I expect the Fiscal Cliff in the
US to be resolved peacefully although it may be
a bit messy. And for those doomsday supporter that
the world will end on the 12th, or 20th and even
21th next month, dream on. I will still be celebrating
Christmas on the 25th and Boxing day on the 26th.

I received a comment yesterday and it reads,"Anonymous

Hi SL,
Thanks for the advice for STX and Noble. I bought some
and the price went up nicely. Good JOB!"
I am glad that there are readers who are risk-taker and
took a calculated risk on the stocks I mentioned.
Noble is looking pretty good currently and as long as it
is above 1.10, it should surf further north with a strong
wind behind. Some other stocks that I am paying attention
right now others than the few I mentioned last week are
Biosensors, Yanlord, Yoma and even the recent IPO,

I believe I touched on some books on Value Investing
a couple of weeks ago, and among them is a book,
Value Investment for Women. I recommended this
book to my wife long ago, and it is only few days ago
that she finally decided to pick up the books and give
the book a chance to be read by her. While she was
reading, I secretly observed her expression and I can
tell that she is enjoying what was written. After about
2 hours when she finished reading the book, she told
me that she is even more confident about managing
her own finance and will put what she read to practice.
Her parting statement to me is that "The Man don't get it".
HAHA... 8-) I read the book also, and I feel that the
ladies out there should really read it and at least know
how to manage their investment strategies (if any) and
get to know Mr Money and Mr Market more.

Nothing much to really add on today as I have
already stated my view on various stocks
yesterday morning and also in the "extra"

that the yesterday mid-day post was the 888th

auspicious post it turned out to be.

I don't know whether you observed that yesterday
market movers and the Top Volume stocks are
all concentrated on just a handful. Like what I
said numerous times, you simply need a few stocks
to make a good killing in the market. I will add
on my view on the stocks in the coming days.

Mid-day post on Olam and STX OSV

Somehow or rather, I received many emails and
Skype message asking me whether they can buy
Olam at the current traded price of about 1.69
This morning in the blog, I stated very clearly that
"From what I can see, we can also catch the counter
now in the muddy water. I believe that it is a god-send
opportunity that the stock has been battered down hard
for the risk-taking investor to acquire a stake of the company.
Seriously, I don't know how low it will goes to but with an
investment horizon of say 6 months from now, the current
price is very attractive."

I said that it is a great opportunity to get the stock at
such a god-send price and if you get it at the opening
few minutes, you would have get it at a fantastic price
and is now sitting on a good profits. If you go in now, your
risks is higher and if you can tahan the risk, then you
can go in with a smaller stake. I have readers telling me
that "I Should Have bought....I Should Have get it..."
The same goes for STX OSV and Noble, I told the readers
to get it last week at an attractive discounted price, and
I still have readers telling me "I Should Have" again.
This "I Should Have" is very regretful and costly and I
really don't want to comment further as I have already
said my piece long enough. You simply need to take risk
in winning money from Mr Market but I guess many are not
willing and will only whine and moan when the opportunity
is lost and the train has left the station. There is no point
crying over spilled milk but to learn from this experience
as you will likely be encountering them again and again
in the years to come.

On a side note, I will also highlight my technical view on
the counters. As long as Olam is above the 1.625-1.63
support/resistance level, it will be safe for now. For STX
OSV, it will be at the region of 1.32-1.33 If you are technically
trained, you would have went in this morning and earned
a few cents with Olam. That is if you can see it.

where. I became much better after taking the
medication and can even watch the show "Ah Boy
to Man" on Monday night. Being a half-cup-full
person, I just treat the MC to be a 2 days rest and
relax session away from the computer screen. I will
talk about my view on the movie tomorrow. For those
having served NS and Reservist training, I believe you
may feel the same way as me.

Ok, back to the stock market.
I believe that if you are looking at the stock market
yesterday, you can't miss noticing the fall from grace
of Olam due to a research report from Muddy Waters.
What an apt name of the one-man research firm as the
owner Carson Block launched an attack on Olam's accounting
practices and doubts on its financial result. I believe that
he will benefit a lot from his short positions on the company
stock but is this the end of Olam. From what I can see,
we can also catch the counter now in the muddy water.
I believe that it is a god-send opportunity that the stock
has been battered down hard for the risk-taking investor
to acquire a stake of the company. How low will the stock
plunge to given that from the pre-opening quote that it will
open about 1.57? Seriously, I don't know how low it will
goes to but with an investment horizon of say 6 months from now,
the current price is very attractive. I really don't believe that
it is as bad as what Mr Carson perceive. It should be down to
his shorting positions when he made the statement.
Ok, for the technical trader, you should be aware that now is
not the time to catch rebound play as there isn't any sign
of it right now.  But do look out for intra-day rebound signals
if any.

I received some feedback from some readers that I am
too overly confident and optimistic about the current
economic situation and they don't feel the same as me.
That is perfectly OK that you don't share the same view
as me. You are entitled to your personal view and I am
entitled to mine. The only difference is that I am willing
to put it in writing and words in this blog. I maybe wrong
but until proven otherwise, I believe in what I believe in
and voice out my own views. To me, in order for the economy
to perform, the stock market must perform and run ahead
before we start to see any significant signs in the economy.
If you have read the same books as me and make the
same observation, then I believe that we are on the right
track this time.

Market View 16 November 2012

First and foremost, I received several emails and
Skype messages from readers that they have not
received any analyst reports emails for the last couple
of weeks. This is not true as I did indeed send out
2 emails over the last few weeks. I guess Yahoo is
having some issues lately again. Another reason is
that if your email with me belongs to the local subscriber
like Singnet and Pacnet, then you will have a issue
with my email as it will likely be over the size quota
set by the ISP. I will do a mail-out later today and if you
still did not receive it, skype me or email me.

Ok, next we come to the reality of the stock market right
now. In my own view, many stocks are indiscriminately
sold down at this time. Regardless of what financial result
you announced, you are going to be whacked, as there
are fearful and ignorant market seller currently doing all
the damages. You may ask, so with so much sellers, who
are the buyers who are picking up the tab. Well, there are
still buyers willing to take a calculated and farsighted view,
and are picking up bargains. It is like Christmas Sales
came early this year. I believe that 3 months from now,
many will look back at the current sales, and said the
same old regretful and plain sorry "I Should Have......"
I also feel sorry for them.....

A reader leave a comment yesterday and it reads,"

Sifu SL, many good counters are going south, besides Noble,
which are the few we can start buying. Many thanks again for
your daily update & recommendation.
Fruitful trading..... Jo"
I would have to say that other than Noble, the remaining stocks
in my watch list are also shouting "Buy me...Buy me!!" right now.
They include STX OSV, Biosensors, CMZ, Olam, Yanlord
and the 2 Es, Ezra and Ezion. There maybe other choices but
I will concentrated on a few than to put the money across more
baskets.

Market View 15 November 2012

The main attraction of yesterday stock market action
must none other be Noble, which is at the top of the
Top Volume traded. The drop yesterday was due to
a director paring his stake in the company through
a placement. I must thank Mr Banga for allowing the
chance to once again park my money on Noble at such
an discounted price. He might as well sell his remaining
about 2% stake in Noble, so that other investors can get
it at maybe even better price. I am a believer of Noble's
mid-long term potential, and I will continue to have it in
my stock holdings.

By the way, I just share something that I "overheard"
yesterday. While having lunch at a fastfood restaurant after
settling some issues with a government board, there is
a financial planner from a Swiss agency trying to sell
investment policy to a customer. They were discussing so
loudly that I can't help it but I can heard all that they were
saying. The financial planner were saying that the stock
market is dead and the following few years will be even
worse and telling his client to put the money in a Bond fund
or policy. I was quite shocked to heard it. In my view, as long
as you are knowledgeable and knows the market well, you
can delivered far better returns from equities than bonds
at all time. The financial planner were saying that the "guaranteed"
return is around 3% which can barely cover the inflation rate.
One can get good returns from dividend yield from quality stock
for such return, and not to say that there may be even capital
appreciations. I believe that your financial planner will start to
ring you up in trying to tell you the benefits of putting your
money in Bond funds, please practice vigilance and caution
in making such decision.
