Market View 17 February 2011

Ok, I received a question in the blog comment asking
whether Genting is still a good buy? My answer is that
it is still a good buy as I believe it still has further upside
potential and fundamentally there is no drastic measure
to derail its operation and prospect. It will be a GREAT
buy if you can get it below $2 and an AMAZING buy
if you can get it below $1. I know of readers and Skype
members who bought the stock when it was in the 80cts
to $1 region and are still keeping the stock till now.
When you get a winner in your hand, don't sell it.
Just let it show you how high and far it can go...

Sinograndness opened gap down yesterday morning
and I was expecting to cover the gap between the
54-54.5cts before resuming its up move. Instead the
stock did a wonderful reversal and closed high at 58cts.
It will be very interesting to see whether it will re-test
recent high 61cts and create new high after that.
It will be announcing result on or before 23th February
so the pre-result play may be starting and it is also
going for dual-listing in Taiwan.

Market View 16 February 2011

Our market continued to be weak this week
with the index, big-mid caps and pennies feeling
the effect of a correction selldown. I received
many questions about the cause of the recent
weakness and when it will stop. To me, this is
just a normal kit-kat chocolate time and I just
need to take a break while still having a eye on
the market happenings.

I mentioned in previous blogs that there are
bargains in the market due to the sellings.
In my opinion, Genting is a good buy below $2
as it will likely find support around the 1.97 region.
The risk is still intact and a mid-term viewpoint
is needed in such a trade.

STI managed to surge 27 points or 0.88% yesterday
but the same can't be said about the many pennies
and mid-cap stocks. Many stocks are still in a selling
mode or is in a sideway move currently, but if you ask
me, I will say that they will have more upside rather
than further selling, in my opinion.

Genting need to stand firm at the psychological important
$2 level, and any further support will be around the
1.97 region.
The palm oil counters are still reasonably steady and
resilient recently and they should be the sector and
counters to watch closely.

Market View 14 February 2011

There have been plenty of bad news coming out
from everywhere recently. We have the Egypt or
Middle-east issue, Interest Rate increment in China,
Funds bailing out of the region, and the occasional
market reaction from Uncle Sam. But despite all the
gloom and doom around, I still see a silver lining
in the horizon. This is a great time to pick up quality
bargains that had fallen down from the grace.

Please don't ask me which micro-penny stock to buy,
and by micro-penny, I mean those below 10cts stocks.
They are dirt cheap for mostly fundamental reasons and
I believe not many can did a turnaround and will hover
around the price for many many days (years) to come.
If you are asking an "expensive" stock then by all means,
keep your questions coming.

We will have the Budget unveil this Friday, 18 February,
and I expect the market to trade firmer leading to the
big days. Lots of market-friendly measures are expected
in Budget 2011 but I can't say the same thing for all
the sector like the Property sector, in my own view.
