Market View 5 February 2010

What else can I say?
US market tumbled in overnight trade over
Europe zone debt problems and higher-than-expected
jobless claims. Dow plunged 2.6% or 268 points to
10002 points, just a mere 2 points above the important
psychological mark 10000 level. S&P 500 lost 34 points
or 3%, while Nasdaq slided 65 points or 3%.
The market had been pretty volatile with any news being
given a negative view, and impact the indices. We are likely
to see such market sentiment continues in the days ahead.

Back to our local market...
Some skype members asked me about the fall of Asia Enviroments
which is in my stock watchlist. Well, it issued a profit guidance,
and I quote "
The unaudited financial results of the Group for the fourth quarter
FY2009 is expected to register a loss and the net profit for FY2009
is expected to be lower than the comparative financial results in FY2008.
Nevertheless, the Group expects to remain overall profitable for FY2009."
The company is still expecting to be profitable for FY2009, but the
market magnified the news and start to selloff the stock which was
quite "unreasonable". I took this opportunities to take quick punt
on the stocks yesterday with the intention for quick in-out
profits which materialised. This stock is turning speculative given
such circumstance, but it is a good punting stock for me for the time being.
With this reason, I will remove the stock from my watchlist as the
risk is higher now.

We can expect a pretty gloomy opening today, but I don't expect
a day-low closing for our market. If there are greens around, I will
stick to them, or else, I will just watch at sideline and see how low
the stock can drop and maybe rebound play.
Will the "invisible hand" appear again to support the stocks and
market?
There are signs that it have always come out when there are bargains
in the winner stocks, and I don't see it stopping.
Winner Stocks: Epure, Sinomem, CSE, CWT, PEC, Ezion,Swiber,
Broadway, Midas & Sinotel, Golden Agri, Yingli, Biosensor (added).

Market View 4 February 2010

US market closed mixed with Dow and S&P 500 down
26 and 8 points respectively snapping a 2 day winning streak
on profit-taking while Nasdaq edge up 1 point.
We have companies like Burger King, Kellogg and Master
Card reporting their financial result tonight.

Some members commented that although the STI charged
up 44 points yesterday but his profits from the pennies
especially the winner stocks did not really match the
strong surge. I have to answer that in such weaker market
sentiment and situation, it is rewarding to get just any kind
of profits. The winner stocks did perform during the last
couple of weeks since the beginning of the year and will
continue to do so for the days ahead.

I will be cautious trading today with important data coming
out in the US tonight and tomorrow. Look for strong stocks
that buck the trend and enter lightly.

Market View 3 February 2010

Another day of triple digit gain for Dow and the 3
major indices closed well in the green for a 2nd day.
Dow up 111 points, while S&P 500 added 14 points
and Nasdaq gained 19 points. Several better-than-expected
earning figures and encouraging housing data propel
the indices up and it is looking ins gaining pace and
momentum again. We shall see for the next few sessions.

Ok, our market and pennies had not be that rewarding
lately, but it is in such quiet and sometimes bloody days
that we can see which stocks can withstand the storm well
and still stand strongly facing the headwind head-on.
If you notice, some stocks never really lose much ground
and are just down for a few cts which it can regain back in
a few days when the sentiment and momentum come back.

I will just be concentrating on the winner stocks that I am
familiar with and watch over a period. If the north wind comes
I will join in. But if the south wind blows again, then I will see
how low the stocks can drop and pick up the pieces.
We got an ipo debuts today, and I will see whether I can
use the ipo punt on it tomorrow and the days ahead.

Market View 2 February 2010

It is a pool of greens with the US indices at the market
closing bell as the 3 major indices closed up more
than 1%. Dow gained 118 points, S&P 500 added 15
points while the Nasdaq surged 24 points.
Strong figures from the U.S. Institute for Supply
Management's (ISM) manufacturing index for January,
and good surge by the energy sector propelled the good
showing yesterday. Is the current correction selloff
over? I would like to see the same sentiment and
momentum continue for a few more day before coming
up with a decided view.

A skype member told me yesterday that it was so boring
in last few trading sessions as the stocks are going up
and down like doing a cha-cha dance, 2 steps forward-1 step
back, or is it is the reverse? I have to comment that sometimes
the market had to take a well-deserved break, to prepare
for the next wave of action, which in my opinion, is more
bullish bias although still in a cautious mood.

I will concentrate on the stocks nearing or heading toward
the $1 mark, and should break it when the north wind
is once again blowing. Midas at 99cts, CWT at 93 cts,
Epure at 90cts are some of the good targets, while still
keeping track of the rest of the winners for strong breakout
if it happens.

Market View 1 February 2010

We have yet another red closing on the US market
last friday, with Dow reverse from the positive region
to close in the red down 53 points, S&P 500 dropped
11 points while Nasdaq lost 32 points. If you have read
market history, you will know that historically 90%
when the US indices are in negative region for January,
it will spell trouble as the whole year is likely to be
in the red too. I have to point out that was not the case
last year. You may argue that last year was exceptional,
then I will just have to believe that this year will be
"incredible" in that sense.

I don't think that this year will be bad for the equity market.
Yes, we will definitely have our ups and downs along the way
which is part and parcel of equity trading. It is this volatility
and unpredictability that make trading so interesting and thus
profiitable and rewarding, and definitely, take note that, not
suitable for everyone.

We are just 2 weeks from the Chinese New Year, and some
skype members were asking me last week whether we will have
a CNY rally in the next 2 weeks of trading? I have to say that
the signs are not pointing to a full-scale full-blast all-out
stock rally in our market, but it will be concentrated in the
"niche" selected stocks.

If you are holding a mid-term view of the market now,
then you may want to start to accumulate and buying
those battered stocks now. Like what I have said before,
you won't know where and when is the market bottom,
and if you want to continue to wait, then I can only say
that, you will carry on to wait and wait for the "rabbit (hare)
to hit the tree" again.

I will look for opportunities and good bargain for a contra
or intra trading today and this week. If the selling intensify,
so will my buying. As simple as that.
I will be particular in those strong stocks especially those
heading toward the $1 mark.
