Market View 7 June 2013

Ok, after yesterday's Internet Blackout, we
can finally see light today, or is it the case?
Some readers asked me whether it will have
any impact in the licensing by MDA at all?
Well, even if it is not going to "move" them
into doing something, at least we are showing
our displeasure and making our feeling felt.
One reader comment that the protest will not
cause any ripple effect. I replied that it may
have some splashes and that is good enough.
After all, they are just informing you of their
decision and not asking for your opinion.
Like what I said yesterday and I will say it
today again: 司马昭之心, 路人皆知.

We come back to stocks now...
Despite the major indexes suffering heavily yesterday,
there are still a couple of stocks that closed
in the green zone. I will just include some of
them here today: Dukang, Rowsley, Vard (fka
STX OSV), Yongnam, ISDN and Midas.
By now, you should know that I like the green
stocks while others are in a weaker state.

Free My Internet

"The blogging community – collectively called Free
My Internet, will be organising a protest and online
blackout next week against the new licensing requirements
imposed by the Media Development Authority, which
requires “online news sites” to put up a “performance
bond” of $50,000 and “comply within 24 hours to MDA’s
directions to remove content that is found to be in breach
of content standards”.

This blog will be joining the online blackout on 6 June 2013.
The motive and purpose of the MDA's stronghand requirement
is obviously an political one, and I don't like it.
司马昭之心, 路人皆知!

You will be directed in 5 seconds.....

I was just informed that the re-direct did not work on
those readers using mobile devices like smartphone
and tablets, so please go to below website yourself

Some readers told me that they simply can't
press the Buy button anymore after looking
at the craze in some of the more speculative
counters. Yes, there are a couple of stocks
that are purely surviving base on "trust" and
"expectation" and is really blowing up a big
bubble. I agree in a way that I also feel the
same way and can't put my money on the line.
If you are not comfortable with what you are
seeing, then I believe staying out of the current
madness is a great choice indeed. I am only
trading on contra on just a few stocks that I
know very well, and not on those highly speculative
counterpart.

Market View 4 June 2013

The most questions I received yesterday are
on the hottest stock at this time: Ramba Energy.
A few readers bought last Friday when I posted
"I noticed that Ramba still managed to surge high yesterday on a reasonably well volume. The momentum looks to be increasing as well." Given the stock's "incredible" surge over
the last few days despite the usual official query
by SGX, it is likely to announce a pretty good news.
It is still on trading halt right now, and we shall see
what the company will announce in due time.
Next, I have written a small piece of personal view
on the IPO Tee Land, which public application will
be closed this noon and debut on Thursday.
I will still give it a punt and risk my $2 application fee.

Lastly, I also received many questions on whether
now is a good time to go into Reits which had been
battered hard lately. Personally, I feel that it is good
that they have been whacked as some have once again
reached a "reasonable" price again. I will seek to go
in bit by bit and not buy all at one shot. I particularly
refer the retail and office Reits, and I like the brand name
Capitaland and Suntec.

Market View 3 June 2013

It seems that there is another sales that just
started about the same time as Great Singapore
Sale (GSS), and it is Great Stock Sale (GSS).
Weeks ago, I mentioned that the stock may
participate in the GSS this year and it is looking
to be that way for some stocks. I will seek to
pick out some good stocks along the way.

A reader left a comment asking me to recommend,"
which counters with good dividend to buy on every
sell down to accumulate for long term investing."
Seriously, I am still buying Noble, Olam, Yanlord
and Vard (fka STX OSV) during market weakness.
The dividend yield for some may not be that
impressive but I believe in their upside potential.
I told quite many readers that I am not really a
dividend-yield type but I am more of a capital appreciation
type of trader and investor. Yes, if you can have a
good dividend returns, that will be a additional bonus
to me.
