Market View 4 July 2011

Another fresh trading week and the main issue
for today will be the revised bid size for the stocks
by SGX. For those below 20cts stocks, each bid is
0.1ct, that is now the lowest a stock can go is 0.001
For example, a stock at 10cts will have buy bid at 0.10
and a sell bid at 0.101.
Those stocks between 0.20-1.00, the bid size of 0.5cts
remains but for those $1.00-2.00 stocks will have bids
revised from 1cts to 0.5cts. For example Genting will
now have bids like buy 1.920 and sell queue at 1.925
Those stocks above $2 will have bids apart at 1cts,
that is buy $2 and sell at 2.01

Although the STI is above 3100 now, but the main
concern is whether there will be further upside going
forward. I noted that although the index is soaring,
not many pennies and mid-caps are really performing that
particularly well other than a few selected one, like
STX OSV. I am totally not interested in those speculative
one-day-wonder kind of stocks that is always in the
Top Volume. I prefer to deal with stocks that I know well
and the rewards have been fulfilling.

From what I observe, I believe that the market is only
suitable to do short-term contra transactions for the
moment as there will be lots of uncertainties and concerns
headwind in the horizon. Stocks are going to take a breather
as what mentioned in blog last Friday but there are still
trading opportunities in hot stocks as there will be pursued and
push-up every now and then. If you have missed to park
your money in quality stocks at reasonable low price during
the weak May-June period, don't worry, you can get your
desired stocks at a discount in the months ahead.
The reporting reason is starting soon, and although I expect
to see good corporate results, the issue remains to be how
much of the results have already been factored into
Mr Market's hand.
