Market View 24 February 2011

Our market continued to slide together with
the regional and US markets as well, but the
pennies and mid-cap are starting to recover
well from bottom.

Genting hit a day-low of 1.88 in early trading
yesterday morning but recovered strongly to close
above the support/resistance level of 1.97 at 1.98
It will swing along the 1.97 level while consolidating
toward the upside, in my view. Meaningful resistance
on top is of course 2.04

For those who are asking about the stock Sinograndness,
I will be very interested if it cover the small gap between
52.5-53cts with volume. To answer the comment made by
Daniel who asked "Do you know why the buying pick up
at the last 2 hours of trading today, for many stocks?",
this is quite normal market behaviour. As the market go
into a tailspin, market players, punters, bargain hunters
will be on a look-up for stocks that had been "unjustified"
sold down, and that was what happened yesterday.
Daniel also lost $800 on Sinograndness as stated in his
comment. I believe it is because his trailing stop was hit
but I can't comment whether this is the right move as he
may bought 10 lots and the cut-loss came when he was
8cts down 20 lots with 4cts loss. To be frank, such a loss
is quite normal in such a market sentiment, and it will be
a meaningful lesson learnt.

Another comment was about the O&M counters that
I mentioned yesterday. To just give a few example,
I like PEC, Ezra, Ezion, CSE....

Market View 23 February 2011

So many things to write about today after what
happened to our market yesterday but I will be
selectively in choosing the material to talk about.

Our market closed sharply lower yesterday together
with the pennies and mid-caps. It is a dark pool of
reds across the my watch list although there are still
a couple of rare green leaves showing up. Is the selling
go to carry on, intensify or is the storm going to be over
soon? In the short-term, market will continue to be
volatile with wild swings in both direction but I don't think
it will last long enough to have sleepless nights and endless
worries. Market will recover and rebound with "Hopes"
and not when the actual "News" surfaced.

Genting reported result yesterday and looking at the past
few days of trading, the result will not be favourable in
such a sentiment. The major support level of 1.97 will
be tested and should it fall further, the next meaningful
stop-point will be at the 1.90 psychological level. Any upside
will be tested at the 2.04 region.

I will be watching the O&M counters closely in this
round of selling and I believe they will be the first to
rebound together with the Techs. Many stocks are so
so attractive right now in my own opinion.

Market View 22 Februray 2011

Regional markets and maybe even global markets
have been relatively weak these couple of weeks
due to a number of factor, which the main one coming
from the Middle East political crisis in a couple of
countries. Our STI index follow suit and the mid-caps
and pennies also got battered hard lately.

There are other 1001 reasons that I can tell you
on why our market and others are falling but I
can only tell you that the fact remains that there
are more sellers than buyers now, as simple as that.
I am still a net buyer at this time although I have also
clear out some holdings as they have meet my trailing
stops or I don't like what I see on their chart.

I keep getting asked when will the market U-turn and
move north. This is a one million dollar question but in
my own opinion, the current situation is only temporary
as with the uncertainties, doubts and rumours circulating,
the market players are turning cautious and waiting for
good bargains to come before making any strategic move.

This is a good time to do some other things rather than
staring at the screen and cursing the stock and market.
Do some readings if you want or spend more time with
the family members. I read this saying in one of the news,
"Form is temporary, Class is permanent".

Market View 21 February 2011

I wasn't available to write the Market View last
Friday as I need to rush off to settle an important
last-minute errand.

I will keep it short for today as there isn't really
much to write on. The readers must have read the
news on the Middle East political crisis and about
the funds moving out of the emerging markets etc.
All these news to me is just BS. The only thing I
see right now is that there are more sellers than
buyers, that's all, and it was reflected in the stock
price action and volume.

To me, this is just temporary and once the buyings
arrive again, it will be a swift pull-up by the market.
I am still in a buying mood and readily pick up any
bargains that I feel was unjustified selling and I intend
to hold for a couple of months.

For those who are looking for short-term gains, you
should be watching the water-treatment sector which
I believe will have some action this week. Take note
of stocks like Sound Global, United Envirotech, Sinomem...

Technically, I believe Ezion should have a good trading
week as long as it surge pass the 68cts resistance with good
volume. Another stock that I am very interested in is
Sinograndness who will report result by Wednesday morning.
The recent high of 61cts looks to be re-test and challenge.

Market View 17 February 2011

Ok, I received a question in the blog comment asking
whether Genting is still a good buy? My answer is that
it is still a good buy as I believe it still has further upside
potential and fundamentally there is no drastic measure
to derail its operation and prospect. It will be a GREAT
buy if you can get it below $2 and an AMAZING buy
if you can get it below $1. I know of readers and Skype
members who bought the stock when it was in the 80cts
to $1 region and are still keeping the stock till now.
When you get a winner in your hand, don't sell it.
Just let it show you how high and far it can go...

Sinograndness opened gap down yesterday morning
and I was expecting to cover the gap between the
54-54.5cts before resuming its up move. Instead the
stock did a wonderful reversal and closed high at 58cts.
It will be very interesting to see whether it will re-test
recent high 61cts and create new high after that.
It will be announcing result on or before 23th February
so the pre-result play may be starting and it is also
going for dual-listing in Taiwan.

Market View 16 February 2011

Our market continued to be weak this week
with the index, big-mid caps and pennies feeling
the effect of a correction selldown. I received
many questions about the cause of the recent
weakness and when it will stop. To me, this is
just a normal kit-kat chocolate time and I just
need to take a break while still having a eye on
the market happenings.

I mentioned in previous blogs that there are
bargains in the market due to the sellings.
In my opinion, Genting is a good buy below $2
as it will likely find support around the 1.97 region.
The risk is still intact and a mid-term viewpoint
is needed in such a trade.

Market View 15 Februray 2011

STI managed to surge 27 points or 0.88% yesterday
but the same can't be said about the many pennies
and mid-cap stocks. Many stocks are still in a selling
mode or is in a sideway move currently, but if you ask
me, I will say that they will have more upside rather
than further selling, in my opinion.

Genting need to stand firm at the psychological important
$2 level, and any further support will be around the
1.97 region.
The palm oil counters are still reasonably steady and
resilient recently and they should be the sector and
counters to watch closely.
